This 601 Charles Daly is the second one I have owned. The first one was purchased about 25 years ago. It still works like a new gun, but, after dragging it through the woods for 20 years it is in need of refurbishing. The 601 field model "for the money" Is an Excellent shotgun. It has a rubbed finish on the wood that I believe to be Turkish walnut. It just means you’re getting a lot of quality for very little money. Miroku made Charles Daly’s shotguns from 1967 to 1976, and the one you see here cost around $150 in 1968. The Model 500 was made on the classic Anson & Deeley action. I think maybe a sort of shotgun a French or Italian farmer might've bought in a hardware store about 50 years ago.
