Anyways...heres what i know. Bike starts easy. pinging/knock is there all the time. Clutch has been removed and the knock is still there. The torque converter and clutches should be inspected by someone that knows what to look for. Worn clutches and sheaves will trash a new belt in jig time. I do not remember if the 02 has the automatic clutch engagement actuator for compression braking, but if it does be sure it is checked.
