The weapon system in this game is rock/paper/scissor and armor counters ballistics and missiles quite well. If your enemy is using huge amounts of armor having an easy way to get decent laser weapons (which shards really are) can be quite useful.I wouldn’t be surprised if the natural regen of the dreadnought could keep up with all the damage from your corvettes. Next time try bigger ships with more L-slots. A 60k fleet of battleships and titan should be able to kill it relatively safely.
