This slide also fits the hex pin reinforced frame, however the serial numbers do not match. The frame bears the ownership stamp Bw of the German Bundeswehr.

I could be mistaken, but I think your P99 was partially made by S&W/Walther in the U.S. and thus won't have a date code. The frame was made in Germany, but the slide and barrel were made in the U.S. These were manufactured starting in 2001. All are .40 S&W caliber and all start with the serial number 46xxx.
